The breakfast offerings could include a few more fresh fruit options.

The location is super convenient, just a short walk to dining options and shops. The warm and inviting lounge was perfect for chilling out, and I loved making my own breakfast in the well-equipped kitchen. Plus, the vibe is really friendly and laid-back, which made meeting fellow travelers a fun bonus!
The lack of an elevator and some hidden fees for parking were a bit of a hassle. it felt like there were lots of rules, which made things slightly uncomfortable at times. though, I still had a fantastic stay despite these quirks!

I had an very nice experience at Little Barrel during my visit to Otaru, primarily to explore the picturesque Otaru Canal. The hostel's charming atmosphere and proximity to Sakaimachi Street made it the perfect base. I was pleasantly surprised by the shared lounge, where I could relax after a long day, and the complimentary breakfast featuring local cuisine that was delicious and energizing. The hosts were friendly, and the overall cleanliness and comfort of the facilities made my stay good. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to immerse themselves in Otaru's beauty!
The double room was a bit small for my boys, especially with their ski gear, but that can easily be overlooked given how much fun we had!

We loved our stay at this guesthouse in Otaru! The location was perfect, with easy access to both the train station and the main attractions. The staff was incredibly friendly and spoke great English. The bed was comfortable and the shared lounge area was cozy. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and the free coffee and tea in the shared kitchen. The ambience of the building was charming and well-decorated. Although the soundproofing wasn't perfect due to the age of the building, it didn't affect our overall experience. We had a great time and definitely felt like we got our money's worth. we highly recommend this place for a pleasant stay in Otaru.
